A moment with our intern: Laura Matthews

It’s a bittersweet week in the office as we see off our talented Account Coordinator and PR superstar, Laura Matthews!

Joining the team as our Summer Associate to assist with the high influx of projects, Laura has excelled in her ability to deliver key social media output, internal communications, client liaison, and media outreach. Her effortless and natural ability to adapt to the media landscape and needs of our clients were an invaluable addition to the team, and we know she’ll continue to shine well into her career.

As she heads to Europe before finishing her university degree, we took a moment to sit down with Laura and reflect on her time with the We Are Brooklyn crew, and her grand plans for the future. This is what Laura had to say.

1.     When did you start with us?

I started with Cole Lawson as a Summer Associate in November 2023.

2.     What kind of tasks were you working on?

I was working on many tasks ranging from initial client research to assisting with strategies, monthly reporting and the curation of social media calendars for clients.

3.     What was your highlight?

The highlight of my time here has been being able to learn from so many amazing professionals working in the industry and applying what I’ve learned to my university studies.

4.     What is the most surprising thing you’ve learned?

My biggest takeaway is how important thinking on your feet and creative problem solving is when working in PR to ensure you’re delivering for the client.

5.     Where do you see yourself in the future?

In the future I hope to be a CEO with a strong background in the PR industry! But in the more immediate future I hope to work in a PR role that inspires my creativity and that I enjoy.

6.     What is your advice for students hoping to enter the industry?

Get involved in as many opportunities as you can! You never know where things can lead or what lessons you will learn along the way. It ultimately helps you grow both as an individual and a prospective employee in the workforce.

Bon voyage, and best of luck Laura!
